Message to the Readers:

"Me? Write my autobiography? What an unusual thought. I remember clearly the moment that inspiration flashed through my mind. It seemed strange to even think to become a writer. I was having difficulty expressing myself through the written word in the English language. The thought to write my autobiography was new to me, but the inspiration persisted. I began to feel enthusiastic about writing the story of my life. I did not quite know how to begin, but had learned in the writing class, the best way was just to begin, so I began. I tried to recollect interesting events that had occurred while I was growing up. I started jotting down notes and bits of information that I remembered. I began to recall certain incidents that had taken place at different times in my life. As I remembered more and more details of events that took place in the course, I came to realize that I did have a story to tell.

In my autobiography, which I began to write in earnest July of 1991, it is my sincere desire to tell the world three things: What I heard, what I saw, and what I know. Although, some names are fictitious, the incidents are true. Many of my experiences are astonishing, even to me.

It all started in Casa Blanca, a Mexican barrio in Riverside, California. During the course of my life there in the barrio, I saw many lives extinguished; including the lives of many of my peers. In contrast, my life flourished. It was during these years that many things happened to me, which I had not understood until very recently. It was then, at age 15, that I had my encounter with the sempiternal God! This is my life story and this is my message to you."
